What We Can Do For You
Free Confidential Financial Counseling
We will work together with you to find solutions to your financial concerns. This might include developing a budget to help you track and control your spending.
Free Intervention and Mediation to Help You Resolve Debt Concerns
These are usually short-term arrangements. Sometimes you may need us to intervene with your creditors. We will act as a third party to advocate for you or explain why you can’t make your full payments in the short term.
Free Debt Repayment Plan
As an alternative to bankruptcy for many clients, we can arrange a repayment schedule with your creditors enabling you to repay your debts within your ability. This usually means lower monthly payments and decreased interest rates.
Clients make monthly payments to Credit Counseling PEI and we disburse the money to your creditors. Creditor calls and other collection activity often stop once the debt repayment plan is established.
Referrals to other agencies and services are given as appropriate.

Where will my interview be conducted?
In most instances, your interview will be conducted at our offices. However, if travel or other circumstances make this too difficult, telephone or mail service can be arranged.
What should I bring with me to my first appointment?
In order to fully understand your situation, we ask that you bring detailed information on your debts, income, assets and living expenses, This information allows us to help you develop a plan that is realistic and appropriate for you.
How are you funded?
We receive financial support from the United Way, financial institutions and local community groups.

Credit counseling services are provided by experienced and caring social work professionals who are specially trained and who must follow a code of ethics and standards as established by Credit Counseling Canada.

Financial support from the United Way, creditors and various community groups allows us to provide this service free of charge to all clients.
